The Plankeye concert I went to took place on October 24th in Lebanon,
PA. It's a 3 and a half hour drive from where in live so we left at
around 3:30 and there was tons of traffic (not to mention that my friend
who was following us in his car drives like an old man :-) Anyway, We
got there at about 7:30. I was kinda worried 'bout what kind of seats we
were gonna get 'cause I'm usually there atleast 2 hours before the
concert but it wound up that they were still doing a sound check when we
got there and they didnt open the the doors till about 8. There was not
nearly as many people there as I thought there would be. The On-stage
Theature was where this was at and It's basically a huge empty room with
no chairs. I got an awesome spot touching the stage right in front
between the bass player and the lead vocalist. It was pretty awesome!
The first person to go on was Fold Zandura. They were supposed to be the
second act but Seven Day was late. Fold put on a pretty awesome
performance. I don't know many of their songs exept for "Ember" and a
few others that I'm not sure of the names but I do know that I love 'em
live! They were awesome!
Next was 7 Day Jesus and I gotta say first off that I went to the
Kingdombound Festival in N.Y. and unfortunately, I slept in the morning
that 7 day went on and I missed 'em. I did however get to meet them
after that concert in N.Y. and talked with them for quite a long time.
Chris Beatty and my friend Barbara even exchanged address' and now they
write eachother.
They did some new songs like "Butterfly" and "Who I
Am". and a few others that sounded pretty cool. They also did alot of
familiar ones like "Strength" and "Ashamed". All in all, they really
amazed me =)
Anyhoo...Next was Plankeye... They did a bunch of new songs (which were
awesome) then went into "Placement" which was awesome live but I think
I'm gonna remember to bring ear plugs next time. I can still hear static
in my ears and it was 4 days ago!(I was practically kissing the speaker
at times throughout the concert). I thought it really rocked though when
they did "Who Loves You More?" (the first Plankeye song I ever heard)
along with a few others off of Commonwealth like "Whisper to Me",
"Struck by the Chord", and "B.C." The only Old Plankeye song (not really
old but I think it was on "The Spark" which I don't have) that I am
familliar with that they did was "Open House". They even did a funky
rendition of "Commonwealth" which rocked! They also did a few other
songs that were either off of their older albums or they were
new...whatever they were...they rocked! They had an encore and then came
back on and did a few more songs. The new ones that they did were
awesome! They did one of their new songs called "Playground", It was
pretty awesome. I cannot wait 'till their new album "The One and Only"
comes out. The release date got delayed agian till Nov.4th this time.
After the concert, we got invited by Chris Beatty of 7 day to stay after
and hang out with the bands.
It was hysterical when Kevin of 7DJ came
out of the food room with a cup of tea singing "Tea and Sympathy" by
Jars of Clay. I went over and started talking to him and he went over
and got me a cup o' tea too =) The one (and only)thing that kinda upset
me was when I had just gotten my Plankeye cd signed and I set it down
right next to me for a second to get money out of my bag and I turned
back around and someone had swiped it. I was pretty bumed, not only
'cause I was MY cd but mostly 'cause of the fact that it happened at a
Christian Concert. Anyway, my friend Barbara went over and explained
what had happened to Kevin of 7 Day and he in turn went and told Scott
Silletta and he gave Kevin a new cd that they had all signed for me and
Kevin gave it to me. I thought that was SO sweet =) I also had a pretty
awesome time talking to Brian Whitman (former gutarist of All Star
United and now with 7DJ). We even swapped e-mail address'. He is such a
humble guy...they all really are!
I got to talk with Scott Siletta for a while again and he is such a
unique person. He was telling us about one time when him and the rest of
the band zipped Ryan (their new guitarist)
in this huge bag that they
use to put equipment in and started kicking him! I thought that was
kinda mean...that is 'till he said that they tried to do the same to
him. All that aside, they are a pretty cool bunch of guys who definately
love the Lord. I think it's so neat watching the Lord work through
people like that. This was definately one of the best concerts I've ever
been to. If you havent seen 'em live yet I STRONGLY recommend that you
do. The only things I really bought there was a Plankeye tour poster
that is now signed, a Fold Zandura pic. that I got signed and I even
loaded up on Bumper Stickers to complete the nifty collection that I
have on the front of my dresser (Hey, i don't have a car yet OK! :-)
Chris Beatty of 7 day Jesus even gave me a 7 Day Bumper Sticker. If you
wanna see my concert pictures from this concert, I'll be posting them up
in "My Snappy Page" as soon as they are scanned...heres the address if
you wanna check it out... Click Here to
get to my main page. (There's even some pictures of Plankeye
"Snapping") They are all such sweeties... You gotta see 'em live...I
just reccommend that if you plan on being in the front row... bring ear
plugs!
